  1. Speedo Says:

You are right on time. I am putting together a mailing to realtors, financial planers, small business owners and retirees.
I am inviting them to a free introductory sample coaching session. I hope to get at least 2 sessions/wk set up - but your challenge is an eye opener to me.
Why would I want to limit myself to 2/wk when I can shoot for the gusto and go for 1/day?????
Thanks for the suggestion and slight (ouch!) kick in the butt!
    Speedo

  2. Andrea Says:

I would love to take part of this challenge!

  3. Victory Darwin Says:

    great plan David.

I’ll get the message out to my 500+ life coaches on http://www.BIGLIFE.ws and we’ll see if this works.

    ~V

  4. Victory Darwin Says:

p.s. we’re you able to help that guy with the 500 pound backpack? he seemed like a really nice guy who just needs a good coach. I think the trips up and down the hill were kind of symbolic of some deeper issues!

and are you still trecking? Did you see the movie “into the wild”? It’s really important… he eats the leaves with the diagonal veins and he dies!
ONLY EAT LEAVES WITH LATERAL VEINS!

  5. Rebekah Nance Says:

I would be interested. Can you send out more information on what this would look like and how you see it unfolding? What would we take from this?

  6. Tiffany Haley Says:

That would be a wonderful idea i would be interested in the call.

  7. Lori Bohan Says:

This is exactly what I need!

  8. Nickolove Lovemore Says:

I would be interested in participating in this challenge. There will be times when I’m travelling or attending seminars and so this would pose a challenge in itself but otherwise it would be doable.

    Thanks for the motivation.

  9. mila ridout Says:

sure, i’ll try. I don’t mind to call people. I’m not fully ingaged in my practice right now because i feel like i need to build my website first… this is real challenge for me. i’m keep putting it behind…

  10. Saba Says:

  11. Victory Darwin Says:

    DAVID WAIT….

    .

  12. Leona Says:

    David.
I would love to be a part of so much wisdom and interaction in the coaching field! Will there be a cost? What type of people would I be inviting to these calls? Yes. I am interested?

  13. PJ Says:

Now that’s a challenge! Im game!

  14. Karen Says:

Yes, that sounds fine as long as I am not doing something else at the time

  16. Lillian Cauldwell Says:

I would like to take you up on your challenge. I own and operate an Internet talk radio station, Passionate Internet Voices Talk Radio, Inc. The company has been up for one year and nine months. My stats are good, 204,000 audio downloads, 154 foreign countries that visit on a daily basis and a large demographic base of university and college students worldwide.

I would like to attract sponsors and advertisers to the station, and could use some help in that.

Thanks for this opportunity. As an entrepreneur, I welcome it.
    Lillian Cauldwell

  17. Mel Says:

The most difficult part is your first clients with whom you want to establish some form of credibility.
Yes I would be interested in the challenge.

  18. sidney rosenthal Says:

  19. Alok Pal Says:

    David.

I’m interested to know more about how to meet up the challenge?
Tools or techniques you are telling?
Hope for the best outcome always as an optimist.

I also have a program I am producing for public television stations across the country and am looking for coaches to interview on many subjects. So if you want to be included let your peers know. And if you would like to be a contributor please let me know the sooner the better. I will be happy to share how to get your first clients and free public relations.

  21. Carolyn Kolba Says:

I would be very interested in hearing more about the challenge. I’m always up for a good challenge. Will there be a cost involved?

  22. Mary Says:

I love this idea……..Alittle intimidating to me since I am still in a research mode in regards to Coaching……..Maybe this will help me jump “into the pool” and actually enjoy all that I have been reading about and listening to over the internet! I have purchased your Coach Start manual and I’m really enjoying it!
    Mary

  23. Caroline Wick Says:

I would find it rather pressurizing to keep that goal because I am also studying for an exam right now (October 14th) and work full time. I bought the coachstart manual and have taken the plunge and have started booking people for trial sessions already. This week I was fully booked up (I can only manage one a day) and I have more lined up waiting for slots! So next week will be full too. Because of this I feel the challenge would just be too much. I feel really happy about the way I am moving forward at the moment and when my exam is over I will move into top gear!

  24. michael yergin Says:

my email is dryergin@aol.com. Keep up the great work David. And remember if you want to be part of my nationwide public television series and you are a coach let me know.

A time to sit back ad reflect on my life. A time for something new and challenging. I want to do something great for my family before next year, yes only three months left. I also wish to learn and share with others. Look forward to being part of the team.

  29. Davette Wheat Says:

Thats great! I’d love to participate…..

  30. Catherine Sternberg Says:

I’m not quite clear on the concept but would very much enjoy considering it and getting clarification..thank you

    Catherine

“that would ask you to invite one person to an introductory call
every day for a month. We’d share our progress together and enjoy
calls with leaders in the industry.”

  31. Karyn Bender Says:

    I’m game!

  32. Mary Says:

I’m in, assuming I’m available for the calls. I need more detail also!

  33. Naydeen Says:

    Wow David,

What an absolutely awesome and terrifying concept. Just the sort of thing that I need to push me “into my discomfort zone” for a while to get things ‘happenen’.

Most of your calls etcetera operate from the US and as I’m in Oz I would be interested in the logistics but I’d love to be involved and really get dirty and ‘terrified’ for a while.

    Cheers,
    Naydeen

  38. Robert Brtuon Says:

Not of interest right not but it would be later. I am still getting my act together and I am not quite ready to start pursuing clients with gusto.

  39. Kishore Kaikini Says:

    Cheers Dr. David Wood,
I am open to be of assistance to you.
Your proposal sounds like a great challenge and I would love to be involved. Like a couple of other people, I am not sure how it would be done as I am based at Bangalore, India. However I would very much enjoy being part of it if at all possible.

    Kishore

  41. Selena Speight Says:

Great idea! Sales Managers - if Sales people are not doing it themselves really should be running this sort of on - going training as standard.

Inspiring a bit of healthy competition internally and ensuring sales people can’t hide behind if’s, but’s and maybe’s benefit’s everyone - but most of all the individual!

    Definately a good idea

    Selena

    Peace.

  46. Rahz Says:

I would like to participate. I’ve been coaching just over 4 months and I hit a dry spell. I was coaching 5 sessions per week, then a few clients dropped off. I think this is exacatly what I require to kick start my 2009 blitz…

    Rahz

  47. Karen Says:

    David,

This is a terrific idea. Recently I completed an intensive coaching certification process. As valuable as it was, it took some time away from coaching. I like this challenge!

    Karen

    Alan

  50. Andrea Meier Says:

    Hi David
What a great way to get energized and get support for our initiative!
Looking at the blog responses, it seems like there is unclarity about who does the intro call. Do we do our invitations and follow-up calls individually and then report in to the group, or do our prospects call in to some centralized event?

Yours for wellbeing and all around, joyful abundance!
    Andrea

  51. haroon Says:

  52. Ellen Lerner Says:

    Great Idea David,

I have pushed myself in the past to set up one sample session a day but
truth be told, I lost momentum and got caught up in the rest of the work I was doing. I did manage to do about 3 a week and still saw some results. I would love to see what 5 a week could bring.

    Thanks for the challenge!

    Ellen

  53. charlotte Says:

    I’m in!

    Charlotte

  54. Keith Says:

Thanks for the offer, I’m most interested to be involved.

    Keith

  55. wendy baker Says:

I have been mulling over the extent to the degree of monitoring and accountability towards expressed action towards goal achievement when coaching and mentoring - and reckon there is nothing like experiencing this oneself.
I am not entirely sure if this is what you are intending - so would like to have a bit more clarification around the challenge you’re offering
    Thanks

  56. Elaine Says:

Can you please explain how this is going to work? Why dont you send another email with more details about your plan and the cost of this idea.

I would be interested to take part if I knew a bit more

  60. Tanna Says:

I would be interested in hearing more. Sounds like a great idea!

  61. Richard Roylance Says:

I think the challenge is an excellent idea and will act as a great motivator to those who take part. I believe two of the greatest motivators are performance targets and competition. Regrettably, I have not set up my practice yet, I am looking for suitable training course.

  62. Sharon L. Mikrut Says:

    I’m game. Count me in!

    Sharon

  63. Andy Says:

    Get me started please!!

  64. Lisa Says:

I would love to have more of a discussion of how/why one complimentary coaching session will bring in clients. I am not against it but know that there are other theories about it. What about taking on longer term clients and getting referrals, testimonials and other services as payment? What about free consulting sessions or talks on your area of expertise? Building a website and blog with great information. I guess I am curious to know what’s the best use of our time in order to build a thriving practice.
    Cheers

  65. Jane Says:

I would be honoured to step up and be part of this … finding that sometimes this process is a lonely one and it would be great to feel part of a team endeavour. Thank you.

  66. Matt Says:

    I think it’s a great idea!

  67. Terri Says:

    I’d be interested.

  68. Margit Says:

    Hi David.

I read with interest your blog of the 25 September. In there you posted your goals and games and one of them was about running an Internet Bootcamp.

We are running 4 day weekends near Graz in Austria. At the moment we are keeping it to a small spiritual retreat holiday, where one of my colleagues is running a workshop. However, I like the work you do and was therefore wondering if this would be a place that you would want to consider for your own plans. Have a look at here: http://www.resolution4life.co.uk/htmlemail/020708/r4l_eml_250908.html where you’ll find links to the area and potential accomodation.

Please let me know what you think.

All the best for now, smiles and lots of happiness.
    Margit ;-)

  69. Kimberly Says:

    Hi David,

Your emails are very informative. I’ve enjoyed reading them. Coaching appears to be an awesome field.

I’m still in the contemplative stage of entering into the coaching profession. I’m quite hesitant at this point; it would be a career change for me. I’ve heard about the field being inundated with coaches and the negative affects of the current economy on the field.
Would you please provide your input on the field being inundated and forecasts for making this a profitable business. I’m currently living in San Diego, CA.

    Thank you,

    PS
I grew up in Michigan. It’s great to see that you live in Mi.

  93. Katerina Gasset Says:

    David,
I have been following you for over a year and I must say you have really come a long way. It is so exciting to see people’s growth! Kudos to you.
This challenge sounds like a great way to get a new coach going.
I have more clients that I can personally handle right now. I have raised my prices substantially and still I am booked.
The key to success in coaching is to really niche. Specialize instead of generalize. Specialists always garner higher fees.
I am going to be moving my practice into a teleconference arena so that I can reach more people at one time, leveraging my time better. Although, I will always do private one on ones because that is what I love to do.
Good luck to all of you who are up to the challenge.

  94. Joanne Clark Says:

    thanks!

  115. Robert Says:

WOW! My Visa transaction not even completed for the 100 day challenge and I am already being pressured into another purchase for $39. I understand the sales(emotional predator)strategy, but my gut feeling is not good on this. Are there any ethics in this. Let me achieve results 1st and I’ll be glad to spend more. BTW, I am already a multimillionaire so it’s not about the money.

I do not want to create time for something that’s not ethical.

  116. ed murphy Says:

    David,
Please correct your text to read “only ’til Saturday”. Till is a form of Cash register and ’til is the contraction for until.

    Lana
    Los Angeles, CA

  132. Lori Says:

I have experienced the frustrations that come from the problems you are stating now. I am feeling the pain/frustration of not being able to articulate my niche. I’m really wanting to know how to uncover, define, and articulate my niche.

    Phil
    in Calgary

  141. Nicole Baikie Says:

I am also having difficulty expressing my niche. I am a studying to be a relationship coach with RCI. I want to work with powerful successful men and women who may feel they intimidate the opposite sex. Is this too specific? and how do I word this that hits my target market. Thanks so much x

  142. Dana Says:

What if your niche is very very new like future coaching. I have to teach people what that is…

  143. Ricardo Says:

David, regarding being specific…women over 40 or women between 40 and 45 years of age?

  144. Shane Says:

I’m about to launch a membership program for Internet Business Starters/Owners who have had trouble taking action. I am providing full action plans for business, coaching, mastermind groups, and lot of other resources…. AND, one of the key features is that I provide is that included in your membership is a a certain number of hours from a Virtual Assistant to help you take action.

SO>>> The question is… what do you think about that? Do you have advice on targeting? And if you think this is viable?

    Thanks again!

  145. Robin Ives Says:

Is this too narrow a target:
I work with women who are struggling to overcome a sugar addiction. ??

    Or is this narrow enough:
I work with busy adults to help them eat healthy, energize, and de-stress?

  147. Jim Brady Says:

Hey David . . . Creating a niche is kind of like putting a label on yourself and making it easy for others to remember you, isn’t it?

Also, if you say “No” to someone, shouldn’t you do everyone a favor and refer them to one of your associates? Hopefully down the road, your associate will work to repay you the favor.

Can a niche be too narrow or too broad? If it is either, what might be the potential consequences of doing so?

I really would like to help women, especially with finding their purpose in life, what makes them happy (for instance what work they should pursue). I think that women are often raised and encouraged to give up their own goals and desires for family, spouses, kids, etc… I think women are often too afraid to try for what they want/need.
    How would I narrow that?

    hi,
My name is Galit. i have been recieving e-mails from you for several weeks and I am enjoying the information. I was trying to use the support address because I had some questions regarding the 30 day challenge, but I don`t know and I don`t understand how it works. Do you have a simpler way of asking you questions about the e-mails you send? You sent me an e-mail about the 30 day challenge and said I don`t have to pay anything, is it really for free? It is the one that starts on oct. 23. Because if it is I would like to join. Do I have to be a life coach or is o.k. if I am just a person who wants to become a life coach?
Thank you, Galit. I`ll appreciate it if you can answer these questions.

  182. Rosalie Malter Says:

I updated my info and in return I was supposed to get a free download. But when I tried to download, it crashed my email. The download came thru as an MP3 file, but I don’t have an MP3. So, what to do? It was about mentor coaching. I’d like it in print, if possible. If it’s a regular video, I should be able to play it on this computer. Or, send it to royoga@cableone.net (my home computer). It should play OK on that.
    Thanks,
    Rosalie
